Clinical Experience 

I had four clinical/fieldwork rotations throughout graduate school. Two of my rotations were level 1 and two were level 2. Level 1 clinical rotations were 12 week part-time internships. I attended my fieldwork site once a week for around 10 hours. Level 2 clinical rotations were 12-week full-time internships. 

MyMichigan Outpatient Neurorehabilitation (level 1)

  • Evaluated and treated clients with various neurological diagnoses in an outpatient rehabilitation setting.

  • Created and implemented evidence-based and client-centered treatment to ensure occupational success of client. Utilized preparatory methods such as paraffin, ultrasound, and therapeutic massage to facilitate performance.

  • Developed skills in documentation, writing client-centered goals, and SOAP notes.

 
 
 
Saginaw ISD (Level 1)

  • Created evidence-based and client-centered treatment plans specific to each child, documented after each treatment session, and facilitated group and individual treatment sessions in a timely manner.

  • Performed daily scheduling, chart reviews, goal writing, and regularly recorded all pertinent information regarding the treatment program and progress towards patients’ goals.

  • Coordinated individualized education program (IEP) meetings with parents and staff to ensure student success.

IPE Simulations

I have had the opportunity to participate in numerous interprofessional simulations with nursing, physical therapy, and other occupational therapists. These simulations exposed me to real-life scenarios in a safe learning environment. Throughout these simulations, I learned many skills that will allow me to excel as an entry-level occupational therapy practitioner, such as interprofessional communication, direct patient care, and implementation of the OTPF Domain and Process. I had the opportunity to create and implement evaluation, treatment, and discharge services.
